Athletic Newham A FC vs Renegade FC
Match Report:
This is our first cup game of the season and we plan to do well in all the competitions that we are in and we hoped for a positive result coming from a very good derby win in our previous match in the league.
FIRST HALF:
It was a tight affair but we just edged it on chances as we could have scored couple of times. Embalo missing a 1v1 opportunity, Joao, Mario, a mix up between two players in front of goal due to lack of concentration to name a few.
Renegade had a few chances of their own hitting the bar twice, a 2v1 opportunity that our keeper was successful in that situation.
The first half ended 0-0.
SECOND HALF:
In the second half we started a lot better than in the first as we came out with higher level of intensity to our style of play on and off the ball.
We eventually made it count when Gideon played a long ball into Embalo who had a defender alongside but was able to withstand the pressure abd go around the keeper to make 1-0 to Athletic Newham A FC with 18 minutes still to play.
We scored again two minutes later when Gideon played another long ball into Embalo who ran to their penalty box cut it back to play a pass into Mario who shot first time but the keeper hit the ball into Mario’s feet to shot again and expertly lob him to make it 2-0 to make it Athletic Newham A FC.
We could have scored straight after when Gideon was put through on goal he shot but the keeper made a good save.
Renegade got a goal through a well worked free kick that we reacted slow from to deal with the good quality cross from theory winger into their striker to header low hard into the goal to make it 2-1 and make it a nervy end to the game.
We made sure of the win in the final minute of the game when our sub Kane was at the right place at the right time to slot in a good pass from Mario at the back post into an open goal to seal the win and make it 3-1 to Athletic Newham A FC.
We are through to the next round of the Fenton Cup which we are very happy about.
MOTM: Embalo. He play a key part in all the positive things that we did in the game and took his goal very well.
