Pre-season is finally over and we were looking forward to playing our first league match of the season to see how we can apply what we’ve been doing in pre-season especially with the new additions to the team.
First Half We didn’t start too well as we didn’t keep the ball too well, We conceded two avoidable goals before the half hour of the game, first was from a corner and the other was a mixture of poor marking and our keeper not having a firm hand on the ball to prevent the ball from going in.
We grew into the game after that as we had multiple chances from Vinicius, Ikenna and a few half chances, We eventually scored just before half time through a good passage of play from the right hand side between Botchey and Ikenna. Botchey played a delightful chip pass into the path of Arion and he scored to get us back in the game 8 minutes before half time.
Second Half We were dominant with possession and chances and we eventually got rewarded for it with 19 minutes left of the game when Joao finished well from the right hand side.
We unfortunately lost the game within the few last minutes of normal time when our centre back made an individual error that their attacker took full advantage of it by finishing on our keeper’s left hand side.
A lot to learn and things to improve on but the reaction from bring 2 goals down was really good so we continue to build on as a team.
