Well thankfully the rain didn’t stop the game going ahead like a lot of the games over the Saturday, after the 4-1 result vs West Essex, Chris got down to work with the lads and got them ready for the FA Cup tie and the match didn’t get off to the best of starts with Jacques Leurs getting a Red Card after giving away a Spot Kick with only 28 minutes on the clock, Kieran Campbell scored from the spot to give the travellers the lead, with the Half Time score only at 1-0 this was going be a important team talk for Athletic Newham
It didn’t take long before it got worst for Athletic Newham when Shane Brennan found the back of the net to make it 2-0 with 52 minutes on the clock and it looked like game over when Lewis Gonzales made it 3-0 with 30 minutes left to play, it wasn’t pain sailing for Tooting & Micham when Lewis Gonzales was shown a second yellow card and the player count was 10 each, Athletic Newham got a break through on 78th minute when Richard Kone scored from the spot but the real hope come 6 minutes late when Richard Kone scored a another goal to make it 3-2 with 4 minutes of the 90 to play.
Athletic Newham pushed and pushed and FINALLY got the break through with Richard Kone finishing of with a Hatrick and take the game into a replay at Tooting & Micham place on 8th August 2023.
